ABOUT NUTMEG CROSS COUNTRY:
Cross country is distance running on trails. We divide our runners into two training groups based on a mix of age and ability and request of focus. The Cross Country group is for our runners or grades 5 - 8 who are interested in long distance running and preparing for sports including but not excluded to cross country. The Sprint Squad is for athletes who want to work on sprint specific technique to improve their running efficiency and speed. Sprint Squad athletes interested in competing will race in our cross country meets. (Register and pay for the cross country seasons below. There is a spot on the registration form to select the Sprint Squad) They can do both groups should they choose to as well, just discuss it with your coaches. Both groups start and finish together with dynamic warm-ups, strength and core conditioning, and cool down stretches.
