About our Junior Olympic Cross country and track teams:

Our youth Junior Olympic running program was started in 2004 to offer kids the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of running, training, and conditioning and a way to ease into racing.  We have consistently coached kids of all ages to compete in competitions of all levels, including the National Cross Country and Track Championships, but we do not determine our success as a team or as a program exclusively on wins or losses.  Each member is equally important to us, both as an athlete and as a young person.  We whole heartedly believe that running and athletics in general provides children with such a wonderful opportunity to tap into themselves and find a strength and confidence that no one can ever teach or show them, rather they discover it on their own.

Our athletes enjoy their experience so much that the majority of them end up being involved with our program year-round. There is no physical fitness or ability requirement to join our youth programs.  We encourage kids of all ability levels to participate.

Each session includes pre-season strength and conditioning classes, regularly held practices both during the week and on the weekends, and several racing opportunities. Practices and meets are not mandatory.  Our coaching philosophy is that young athletes should be well rounded in all aspects of life, and support their involvement in other activities and/or sports.  We ask each member that they make a commitment to our program on a level that is appropriate for them as individuals.  As they grow older, we find that many of our participants become more focused and driven on their own accord.
